Yes, a wrt54g by linksys is a fine wireless router although is the first released in the wireless g family.You can watch a comparison WRT54G-TM VS WRT54G VIDEO of these to routers, features and more here.The wrt54g-tm model is the big brother in the family and surpasses the wrt54g router in many ways.
The wrt54g mods CAN NOT match the functions of a TM version do to internal memory size and the latter versions DO NOT have upgradeable antennas.
The wrt54g-tm in my opinion even beats the wrt54gl a linux based router for the same reasons.
